NIHHS Founder: Roy
L. Jones - Senior Environmental Fellow and NIHHS National Founder / Coordinator 
Mr. Jones is the Founder and Executive Director
of The National Institute for Healthy Human Spaces, Inc. ,
a former Co-Chair and Coordinator of South Jersey Environmental Justice Alliance, and one of the founding members of the statewide New Jersey Environmental Justice Alliance.
Mr. Jones has a B.A. from Rutgers University, M.A. from Glassboro State
College/Rowan University, a M.S. in Business & Community Economic
Development. from Southern New Hampshire University, and Doctoral work
from Temple University.
While at New Hampshire College, he received a U.S. Dept. of Housing
and Urban Development Fellowship. Mr. Jones has an extensive business
development, civil rights and environmental leadership background that
extend over 40 years. He began his environmental justice work in the 1970s
advocating against building an incinerator in Camden, New Jersey.
Since1966, Mr. Jones has been involved in numerous civil rights and
social justice work. Among some of the environmental justice work and
accomplishments completed to date are the following: provided technical
assistance to community-based organizations, and organized a series of
town meetings about lead in school water systems resulting in over $30
million in infrastucture improvements, Puchak Superfund Well Water Contamination,
stopping the export of Radioactive Water to New Jersey's most over burdened
city and drafting recommendations to local, state and federal officials
to improve environmental conditions.
Mr. Jones is also involved in a network with the U.S. Steelworkers Union
regarding contamination issues at the DuPont Plant in DeepWater,,Salem
County, New Jersey.
In addition, he helped organize a massive class-action lawsuit over
Camden's contaminated water affecting (80,000) residents.
Mr. Jones was awarded the 2003 New Jersey Environmental Federation
Outstanding Achievement Award and in 2006 was appointed to the 100,000-member State-wide
New Jersey Environmental Federation Board of Directors.
Moreover, Mr. Jones is a 2008 Senior Environmental Fellow and is authoring
a publication titled: Toxic Schools . 2010.
In 2008, Mr. Jones founded the National Institute for Healthy Human
Spaces, Inc. (NIHHS). NIHHS addresses promoting environmental, organizational
and economic sustainability issues related to Healthy Homes-Schools,outdoor spaces, Industrial-Commercial, institutions
and healthy cities.
